White van used by suspects in prison bus attack found

A white coloured van used by the suspects involved in the prison bus attack in Kalutara yesterday has been found, the police said.

The police said the van was found in the Horana area today.

The?prison bus was shot at in Kalutara last morning killing seven people including an underworld member.

The police said that gunmen who arrived in a vehicle opened fire at the bus.

Underworld member Aruna Udayashantha, alias Samayan, was killed in the shooting incident. Two prison officers were also killed in the shooting incident.

The police said that five police teams have been deployed to investigate the shooting incident.

The police media unit said that according to initial investigations, the gunmen had been wearing clothes similar to a police uniform.?(Colombo Gazette)

Several displaced by rain

The EPDP led by Minister Douglas Devananda has suspended the membership of EPDP Jaffna Municipal Council member S. Vijayakanth with immediate effect.
