SAITM CEO temporarily relieved of his duties

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SAITM university, Dr Sameera Senaratne was today temporarily relieved of his duties.

The move followed reports he may have staged an attack on his vehicle recently.?Dr. Sameera Senaratne has also later informed the SAITM management that he has decided to resign from his post.

SAITM said it had nothing to do with the shooting incident involving the vehicle of?Dr. Sameera Senaratne.

Investigations have revealed that the recent shooting incident targeting the vehicle of SAITM CEO Dr. Sameera Senaratne, was staged.

The police said a suspect was arrested over the incident and he is being questioned further.

According to the police a politician is also involved in the incident and he is connected to Dr. Sameera Senaratne.

Gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on the vehicle of?SAITM CEO Dr. Sameera Senaratne in Malabe on February 6.

Senaratne escaped unhurt but the car was damaged in?the shooting incident.

Senaratne had said that when he was returning home he saw a motorcycle block his path near the Malabe SAITM campus.

Senaratne said that when he slowed down the men on the motorcycle got close to his vehicle and opened fire.

The gunmen fled the scene after the shooting incident. (Colombo Gazette)

The Sri Lanka Navy arrested ten Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mullaitivu today.
