Widoda invites Sirisena for State visit to Indonesia

The President of Indonesia Joko Widoda has invited President Maithripala Sirisena to pay a state visit to his country immediately after his scheduled participation at the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit meeting to be held in Jakarta.

The Indonesian President’s special envoy, A M Fachir, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered the letter of invitation to President Sirisena at the Presidential secretariat today. President Sirisena will attend the IORA Summit on 6th and 7th of March and will pay a state visit on March 8.

The President conveyed his thanks to President Widoda, through the Special Envoy, for the invitation and said he was looking forward to attend the Summit, which marks the 20th Anniversary of IORA and to meet the Indonesian President for discussions on furthering bilateral friendship and cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and other areas of common interest.

The Special Envoy, Fachir said that Indonesia has already dispatched the first consignment of the rice donation for drought relief announced by President Widoda. He said that President Widoda personally attended the brief ceremony held at the State Logistics Agency Warehouse in Kelapa Gading in Jakarta.

President Sirisena conveyed his thanks to the President, the Government and the people of Indonesia for the donation. He said the Indonesian donation of 5000 MT symbolizes the strong friendship that exists between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

He recalled the strong ties between the two countries since ancient times. He said that Indonesia played an invaluable role at the Non-Aligned Summit of 1976 hosted by Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. President do not waste and abused tax payers money by visiting oversees must be STOP.

    The oversees trips are not priority of National Economic in crisis as whole nation been challenge by of the survival of day to day life of ours people.
    Its cost millions of rupees of govt. expenses, that cannot be beware by poor majority people of
    Sri lanka.

    The interest of people must be first priority to be save money for economic development .That is bound duty and responsibility of President of first citizen of nation and Prime-Minister. The current state leaders have accountability to public sooner or later by their deeds and act of authority.
    We are at sever economic crisis.
    The majority people are without food and rice has to be import from oversees after few decades.

    The large number of Rural poor are suffering from the lack of water and Maha season rice Crop had drop due to drought situation in country-wide.
    Needless to say the Day to day living of majority has been badly hit ,rupees values has decaling rapidly and inflation has rise unpresidently.
    I understands that import of the oversees trips by leaders of country, but time has not ripe for that If and economy recovered in the highest position and time permitted visiting other country not bad at all !!!!!!!

    Leaders of Good governances that must stop misusing public fund. President have to stop this oversees trips by promptly .

    And as well as the Primer has stop going oversees set example to public which is not going to mishandle of Tax Payers money.

    The looting of public money is crime to the nation.
