The Government says there will be no?u-turns but some detours in the transitional justice process.

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera told Parliament today that the reconciliation process may be slow but the Government is committed to meet the expectations of the people.

“Although there are some delays the Government is committed to meet its commitments on transitional justice,” he said.

He also denied claims that Sri Lanka was working in the interest of the international community.

The Minister also recalled that the international community had in March 2015 given Sri Lanka time to meet its commitment to the people of Sri Lanka.

He also said that drafting of a Counter Terrorism Act to replace the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) will commence once the?Parliament sectoral oversight committee considers a framework.?(Colombo Gazette)
