NFF demands recognition as independent party in Parliament

The National Freedom Front (NFF) informed Parliament today that it has withdrawn from the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and should be recognised as an independent political party.

NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa said that the NFF had earlier informed Speaker Karu Jayasuriya that it was no more with the UPFA.

However the Speaker said that today was the first time that he was informed of the decision by the NFF.

Weerawansa however insisted that he had already informed the Speaker and so the NFF must be recognised as an independent political party.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said that he will look into the matter and inform Parliament tomorrow. (Colombo Gazette)
