Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Brazil, General Jagath Jayasuriya, concurrently accredited to Colombia presented his credentials to Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, President of Colombia at the president´s palace in Bogota, the Foreign Ministry said today.
At the Presentation of credentials General Jagath Jayasuriya conveyed greetings the President of Sri Lanka and briefed the significant developments taken place under the unity Government.
The Ambassador also congratulated the President on winning the Nobel Peace Prize and for the sucess of the peace process of Colombia.
After presenting his credentials, Ambassador General Jagath Jayasuriya had opportunity to meet Maria Ángela Holguin Cuéllar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
The Ambassador also met Alfredo Ramos – Director of the Asia, Africa and Oceania, Ms. Maria Poula Arenas Director of Trade Relations at Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and Manuel Felipe Becerra – Director of International Affairs of the Ministry of Defence.
During meetings, Ambassador General Jagath Jayasuriya emphasized on the importance of enhancing bilateral relations, trade relations and exchange of experts in the field of trade and defence for the benefit of both countries in the years ahead. (Colombo Gazette)
