Three Chinese Nationals arrested at BIA with cigarettes, liquor

Three Chinese Nationals were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today with cigarettes and liquor being smuggled into the country.

The customs department said that a Chinese woman was arrested when she arrived in the country from Beijing with a large stock of?cigarettes.

Two other Chinese Nationals were arrested later with?tobacco?and liquor being smuggled into the country.

Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Ratnapura police training OIC shot dead

The officer in Charge (OIC) of the Ratnapura police training college was shot dead this morning. According to the police, OIC Indrasoma Ratnayake, was killed in Ellapatha over a land dispute. The police arrested a suspect over the shooting and also?seized?a weapon in his possession. The suspect was a?neighbor?of the victim.
