Sniffer dogs to be purchased to boost security at BIA

The Government has decided to purchase 20 sniffer dogs to boost security at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The Government says it is important to deploy sniffer dogs that can identify explosives, firearms, drugs, money and illegal items in airports for the protection of civil aviation services.

Accordingly, a proposal made by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, to purchase 20 sniffer dogs and deploy them in Bandaranaike International Airport, was approved by the cabinet of Ministers. (Colombo Gazette)
