President to appoint committee of experts on SAITM

President Maithripala Sirisena is to appoint a committee of experts to hold consultations and advise the Government on the steps to be taken on the issue over the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) in Malabe.

The President said the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) and the Sri Lanka Dental Association (SLDA) have submitted proposals to him on issue.

“GMOA and SLDA submitted their proposals on SAITM issue. I will appoint ?a committee of experts to consult all parties and advise the gov.,” the President tweeted today.

President Maithripala Sirisena had said this week that?he will not allow any injustice to happen to the medical students of universities due to the SAITM Private Medical College in Malambe.

?As the President of the country I am not partial to any party in this issue. I will bring justice to every student while being impartial. I will have discussions with all relevant parties and solve this problem through a reasonable program which everybody can accept,? he had said.

He also pointed out on the importance to establish educational institutes with quality and standards to solve the problems of the students who are unable to enter into universities but are qualified for such education. (Colombo Gazette)
