Wigneswaran says Government misled Sampanthan

Northern Province Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran today accused the Government of misleading Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan on a political solution for the Tamils.

Speaking at the ‘Eluga Tamil’ rally in Batticaloa today, Wigneswaran said the Government promised  Sampanthan a solution will be given in 2016 for the Tamil issue but that never happened.

He said the Government is now attempting to mislead the international community at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva by asking for more time to address allegations related to the war.

Wigneswaran says the Tamils will continue to push for their democratic rights, including a political solution.

The Northern Province Chief Minister also said that the Tamils have not given up on the demand for a merged North and East. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. C V Wigneswaran is fooling himself and his followers. Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan has plenty of political experience compare with C V Wigneswaran. Northern Province Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran must understand his job description and do everything to develop the Northern Province, instead of advising to TNA leader Sampanthan.
