Monks protest against burial of coronavirus victims

A number of Buddhist monks staged a protest near the Presidential Secretariat today against burying coronavirus victims. A petition in this regard was also handed over to Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi. Buddhist monks attached to several organizations including the Sinhala Ravaya and Sinhale Api participated in the protest. A tense situation arose when the monks attempted to force their way into the Presidential Secretariat.?The Police prevented the monks from entering the premises.

Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka reaches 194

Three more coronavirus related deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today, the Government Information Department said. The three deaths took the coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka to 194 today. Of the three deaths, one victim was a 90-year-old man from Dharga Town in Kalutara.?He died on admission to the Kalutara hospital. The second victim is an 83-year-old man from Teldeniya.
