ACF demands answers over 2006 Muttur massacre

The Paris-based Action Contre La Faim (Action Against Hunger, ACF) has demanded answers related to the murder of 17 aid workers in 2006. On August fourth, 2006, 17 employees of ACF were executed in their office in Muttur. The Government at the time blamed the LTTE for the massacre while the LTTE blamed the military. Over 2800 suspects arrested over various crimes in special operation

Over 2800 suspects were arrested today over various crimes in a special Police operation conducted around the country. The Police said that?2,879 suspects had been arrested in the special Police operation. The Police had also filed 7,516 cases for traffic violations during this period. (Colombo Gazette)

Active Liability Management Bill passed with amendments

The Active Liability Management Bill was passed in Parliament with amendments today. Parliament was adjourned for 10 minutes earlier when a technical failure during the vote saw the wrong results being given. When the vote was eventually taken the joint opposition walked out and the bill was passed.
