Prison guard, Air Force employee arrested over drug trafficking

Four persons were arrested today in connection to drug trafficking incidents reported at the Mahara Prison. A prison guard and a civil worker attached to the Air Force were among the arrested suspects. They were arrested by the Veyangoda Police with 15g of heroin in their possession. Number of coronavirus patients in Sri Lanka continues to rise

Ten more individuals infected with the coronavirus were detected in Sri Lanka today. The Government Information Department said the infected patients were inmates from the Kandakadu rehabilitation centre. Youth remanded for impregnating 15-year-old girl

A 22-year-old youth has been remanded after being arrested on charges of impregnating a 15-year-old girl. The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) had arrested the youth and produced him in court following investigations launched by its Special Police Unit on a complaint received in this regard.
