PUCSL rejects CEB request to procure 55 MW of power

The??Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has?rejected a request by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to procure 55 MW of power. The CEB had said in a letter to the PUSL that it had obtained cabinet approval to obtain emergency electricity from a private company. However the PUCSL has rejected the request saying the CEB had violated the provisions of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act which is applicable on any procurement of electricity. NPC not for special powers for proposed State, says chairperson

Several injured following accident involving bus and lorry

Several people were injured following an accident involving a bus and a lorry in Moratuwa today. The police said that the bus crashed into the lorry which had slowed down near a bus stand. At least 15 people were injured in the accident and were admitted to hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
