Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that some super secretaries issued orders to the Urban Development Authority (UDA) to carry out road work in some areas without a proper assessment.
Kariyawasam said that some work required the involvement of several Ministries yet only one Ministry was involved.
The Minister said that some of those decisions resulted in the areas being affected by floods during heavy rain.
He also said that there were “super ministers” in the former Government who issued instructions without following the system and yet now the Government is accused of having a super Minister.
Kariyawasam said that the Government is only taking forward a policy of sustainable development which will help the country. (Colombo Gazette)
