SLFP says it has confidence in the Central Bank Governor

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) says it has faith in?Central Bank Governor?Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy.

State Minister of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that the SLFP has no issue with the Governor and his conduct.

Yesterday?Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake slammed Central Bank Governor?Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy for saying that Sri Lanka?s economy is not in the ?ICU? but in ?hospital.?

The Minister said he was surprised that?Coomaraswamy made such a statement.

Karunanayake said that when the current Government took office Sri Lanka?s economy was in the ICU and Coomaraswamy was then an ?attendant.?

He said the?Central Bank is there to take the economic policies of the Government forward. (Colombo Gazette)
