Sri Lanka stops visas for Myanmar nationals following Rohingya crisis

The Government has decided to suspend issuing visas for tourists from Myanmar following fears that Rohingya Muslims may attempt to enter Sri Lanka to seek refuge. Minister of Internal Affairs S. B. CEB strike expands, Ministry makes appeal to prevent crisis

The strike by trade unions attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) expanded today with more trade unions extending support to the strike.   Meanwhile, the Power and Energy Ministry appealed to all CEB employees to return to work and prevent a power crisis. The Ministry also announced that employees who did not report to work on September 13 and 14 will be granted paid leave. (Colombo Gazette)
