UNP tells Faiszer to resolve issues away from camera

The United National Party (UNP) says Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faiszer Mustapha must resolve issues related to his Ministry away from the camera.

Deputy Minister and UNP Parliamentarian Ajith P. Perera said that a media circus was staged yesterday over the report by the Delimitation Committee.

He said that the subject Minister and the?Delimitation Committee should have resolved the issue over the report away from the media.

Mustapha yesterday?refused to accept the Delimitation Committee report as it was not signed by some committee members.

He refused to accept the report when the Chairman of the Committee?Asoka Peiris attempted to hand over the report in the presence of the media.

Subsequently high drama ensued between Mustapha and Peiris and everything was recorded by the media.

Ajith P. Perera says the UNP wants the Local Government (LG) elections to be staged soon and so Minister?Mustapha must ensure the issue on delimitation is resolved?in order to hold the election. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lankan maid tortured to death in Kuwait

A Kuwaiti couple are being investigated for torturing a 46-year-old Sri Lankan maid to death, Gulf News reported. She died in Amiri hospital having been brought there by her Kuwaiti sponsor with traces of burns, cuts and wounds on her body.
