Sri Lanka to donate tea to the people of Palestine in Gaza

Sri Lanka has made arrangements to donate a consignment of Ceylon Tea to the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip as a token of humanitarian assistance symbolizing Sri Lanka?s unwavering support and solidarity with the people of Palestine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Activist Piyath Nikeshala arrested

Activist Piyath Nikeshala was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over allegations he had recorded a telephone conversation involving Minister Tiran Alles. Nikeshala was arrested after being summoned by the CID to record a statement over the allegations. A complaint had been filed against him under the Social Media Regulation Act. (Colombo Gazette)

Former Army Commander Daya Ratnayake joins SJB

Former Army Commander Geneal (Retd.) Daya Ratnayake joined the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led by Sajith Premadasa. Ratnayake has been appointed as a Senior Advisor for Public Policy of the SJB. Ratnayake served as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from 2013 to 2015. Following his retirment from the army, he served as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Secretary to the Ministry of Industries.
