Mahinda admits he spoke to Lasantha several times

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has admitted to speaking to slain journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga on several occasions.

A telephone conversation between Rajapaksa and Wickrematunga was leaked this week on some websites.

When asked about the leaked conversation,?Rajapaksa told reporters today it was nothing new and that he had several conversations with?Wickrematunga in the past.

Rajapaksa said that since?Wickrematunga was a journalist he recorded the conversation like most other journalists.

Meanwhile, joint opposition Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena said that?Wickrematunga and Rajapaksa had a good relationship over a period of time.

He said that?Rajapaksa spoke to Wickrematunga like he would to any journalist.

Rajapaksa was accused of being involved in the murder of?Wickrematunga in January 2009.?(Colombo Gazette)

Over 3000 ecstasy pills found in parcel at Central Mail Exchange

Over 3000 ecstasy pills have been found in a parcel at the Central Mail Exchange, Sri Lanka Customs said. According to Sri Lanka Customs 3,050 ecstasy pills were detected in the parcel which arrived from Portugal. Sri Lanka Customs said that a suspect who had arrived to collect the parcel was arrested.
