Sri Lanka Cricket amends constitution

The constitution of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board was amended at an Emergency General Meeting of the membership of Sri Lanka Cricket held at the SLC Headquarters yesterday.

At the said EGM which was attended by over 60 member clubs, the membership unanimously ratified the proposed changes to the constitution of SLC which was adopted in 2003.

The membership also considered and adopted the Audited Financial Statements for the period ending December 31st 2015.

The meeting was attended by representation from 61 of 83 member Associations and Clubs counting for a 73% turnout of the membership.

Under the new constitution, the Executive Committee of the Board will have full power and authority to make By-Laws and frame Regulations /Directives for the carrying out of any or all of the objects or purposes of the Board; always provided, however, that they are not in conflict with or in derogation of the provisions of this Constitution.

The Executive Committee of the Board will also have full powere and authority to appoint SubCommittees as may be necessary, for the carrying out of any of the objects or purposes of the Board.

The Executive Committee of the Board will have full power and authority to take such action as may be necessary, after due inquiry / investigation, on any report made against any member of the Board, Player, Umpire or any other person who has acted contrary to the interests of the Board.

The Executive Committee will also appoint a Chief Executive of the Board, who will be selected and paid such remuneration and allowances as shall be determined by the Executive Committee. (Colombo Gazette)
