SLFP to oppose Bill which gives Minister special powers

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will oppose the Bill which will give one Minister special powers, SLFP Parliamentarian Dilan Perera said.

Perera said no Minister needs special powers to carry out development work in the country.

He said even if the Bill is brought to Parliament through the front door or back door or through any  other route it will still be opposed by the SLFP.

The SLFP Parliamentarian noted that President Maithripala Sirisena had reduced the Presidential powers through the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

He said if anyone below the President attempts to take those powers the SLFP will oppose it. (Colombo Gazette)
