Namal insists his girlfriend not involved in traffic violation

Opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa insisted that his girlfriend was not involved in a traffic violation recently.

Rajapaksa, who appeared before the police Financial crimes Investigations Division (FCID) today, later told reporters the Inspector General of Police (IGP) was now investigating a mere traffic violation and not more serious crimes.

He said he did not have a girlfriend so a daughter of an opposition politician recently charged over a traffic violation was not his girlfriend. (Colombo Gazette)

Father, daughter and another girl drown at Gerandi Falls

A man, his daughter and another girl drowned at the Gerandi Falls in Madulsima today. The Police said that a 38-year-old man and two girls, aged 12 and 13 years had drowned. They had drowned while bathing in the Gerandi Falls in Madulsima. The bodies were recovered and were taken to hospital. Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)
