Motion to suspend state funds to all Ministers, personal staff passed

A motion to suspend state funds to all Ministers and their personal staff, was passed by Parliament today. The motion was passed with 122 members voting for it. The motion was submitted by United National Front Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranwaka. The motion noted that secretaries to any and all Ministries have no authority to approve any payment of monies drawn from the funds of the?Republic for Ministers, State Ministers, Deputy Ministers and their personal staff. TNA suspects Karuna and EPDP involved in criminal acts

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) raised suspicions in Parliament today that former LTTE member Karuna Amman and the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) were involved in some criminal incidents in the North and East. Bus topples into canal, 4 killed, several injured

A? luxury bus heading to Colombo from Jaffna toppled into the?Hamilton Canal at Naththandiya today killing four people and injuring several others. The Police said that the accident occurred along the Colombo – Chilaw road. At least 20 people were injured and admitted to hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
