Move to crackdown on gender based violence at workplace

The Government is to take measures to crackdown on gender based violence at the workplace.

Sri Lanka is bound to take action to eliminate violence against women in the workplace according to the international conventions it has entered.

Accordingly, a?proposal made by Chandrani Bandara, Minister of Women and Child Affairs, to appoint a committees of senior officials in each Ministry to eliminate gender based violence in all workplaces, has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. (Colombo Gazette)

PUCSL rejects CEB request for 7-hour power cut

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has rejected a request from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to enforce a 7-hour power cut tomorrow.
