HRCSL accuses police over student assault

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has accused the police of violating the rights of the students of the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) during a protest recently. No lax in extra security checks for Maldivians in Lanka

Despite assurances by Maldivian authorities, Sri Lanka customs are continuing to heavily screen the luggage of Maldivians travelling to the neighbouring capital Colombo. Atmospheric disturbance still over Sri Lanka

The atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said this morning. It said that showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island, particularly after 12.00 noon. It also said that showers can occur at some places in the morning. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
