Cabinet approves new monthly office allowance for MPs

Cabinet has approved a new monthly office allowance for?members of Parliament.

A?proposal made by Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media, to present a proposal to Parliament for provision of a monthly office allowance of Rs. 100,000 to maintain an office for each parliamentarian including national list MPs from January 2017, and to increase the current parliament sitting allowance from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2500, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. Missing persons commission begins fresh sittings in Mullaitivu

The Presidential commission to investigate into complaints regarding missing persons began fresh public sittings in the Mullaitivu District today. Secretary to the Commission?Hewa Wasalage Gunadasa said that the commission will hold sittings in?Mullaitivu for three days.
