Karuna Amman arrested after appearing before FCID

karunaFormer Minister Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman was arrested today after he appeared before the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID).

Amman was asked to appear before the FCID to record a statement on the alleged misuse of a Government vehicle.

He was arrested and produced in court and remanded till December 7.

Karuna Amman was a Minister in the former Government and was also an LTTE member.

After leaving the LTTE, Karuna led the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pullikal (TMVP) and helped the army to defeat the rebels.

Following the end of the war Karuna Amman joined the Government led by then President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In January last year when the new Government took office Karuna Amman lost his place in the Government and later in Parliament.

He has been accused by human rights groups and UN agencies of being involved in human rights abuses during the war. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Lots of people sacrificed their life to redeem this country from terrorism. Seems like everything is going to be in vain. The foreign powers are truly back in their game; looks like they are the winners. Redeeming the country from terrorism vs misuse of vehicle; it is a joke isn’t it?

  2. Finally they arrested someone worthy. This guy should be hanged, hes a terrorist. He was used for the war and now we dump him. Maybe Ranil has started growing a spine

  3. It is a very good lesson for turncoats, stooges, who wash dirty linen on behalf of their masters will experience last. All their power, cushy life will never ever last long. at last they all end up in jail.
