Action to be taken on anyone promoting extremism

mano-ganeshan-2The Police have been ordered to take action on anyone promoting extremism, Minister of National Dialogue Mano Ganesan said.

He said that President Maithripala Sirisena had issued the instructions to the police at a recent meeting.

The Minister said the police will obtain court orders against any group which attempts to stage a protest or rally which could promote extremism.

“We will not see what religion they belong to or if they have any political links. Action will be taken against them,” he said.

Mano Ganesan said that the police will also act on anyone promoting extremism in the North and not just in the South. (Colombo Gazette)
