Basil confident of future of new opposition political party

Former Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa today expressed confidence over the future of the newly formed political party after he obtained membership in the party.

Addressing the media at the first press conference by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna,?Basil Rajapaksa said that several Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members will join the new party.

Former Foreign Minister, Professor G.L Peiris is the chairman of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to join the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna as the party leader. (Colombo Gazette)
