Defence Ministry regrets attack on disabled soldiers

ruwan-wijewardene-759The Defence Ministry today expressed regret over the attack on disabled soldiers who staged a protest near the Presidential Secretariat recently.

State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene said that political forces working against the Government must take responsibility for the incident.

The police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the disabled soldiers who protested near the Presidential Secretariat demanding pension.

Wijewardene said the disabled soldiers were used to meet the political goals of some elements. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Opposition is very active. They know what they have lost. They have to protect the property looted from public funds. They are behind lot of these protests. On the other hand Army must know how to tackle issues related to disabled soldiers. I have my reservation as to who activated the protests.
