Prime Minister ready to appear before Bribery Commission

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says he is ready to appear before the Bribery Commission to respond to allegations over the Central Bank bond scam.

Wickremesinghe told reporters today that the report by the Parliament Committee on Public Enterprise (COPE) on the Central Bank bond controversy is a victory for the Government.

He said that the report is now before the Attorney General and the next course of action will be based on the recommendations of the?Attorney General.

The joint opposition has filed a complaint with the?Bribery Commission accusing the?Prime Minister of being involved in the bond scam.

Wickremesinghe says if he is asked to appear before the Commission to make a statement he is ready to do so.

He also said that he has called for a report on the ‘Greek Bond’ scam and will submit a report to Parliament on the findings of the report. (Colombo Gazette)
