Students of the Jaffna University suspend protests

1477902539_download-1Students of the Jaffna University suspended their protests after having a discussion with the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, D.M Swaminathan today.

The Minister went to Jaffna this morning to hold a discussion with the student unions and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna regarding the deaths of the two Jaffna University students.

Having full confidence in the assurances given by Minister Swaminathan, the students have decided to suspend their protests.

The students engaged in several protests throughout last week and they staged another protest this morning as well, demanding action against the recent shooting incident which killed two students in Jaffna.

Minister Swaminathan also noted that the students have been given the opportunity to meet His Excellency President Maithripala Sirisena, in Colombo at 12.30 pm tomorrow. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The social behaviour of Jaffa student are abnormal.
    They are still working on Tamil chavnanist ideology back by Tamil separatist agenda.

    The Students of Universities could not working on Chavnanist line of politics ,they must be guided by board and rational mind set of that norms of democrat values .

    Otherwise Tamil nation future rely on by another set of Terrorist /anarchist politics. which has no relationship the politics of Democratic.

    Youth and Student of Tamil people should join hand with democratic world that will lead to Socialist ideology .
    Where is the real solution leads New World Order of Democracy not that Capitalist hegemony.
