Former Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) DIG Nalaka de Silva was granted bail today. Nalaka de Silva has been in remand over an alleged plot to kill the President. The Criminal Investigations Department had told court earlier this year that there was evidence to prove Nalaka de Silva was linked to the alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Opposition questions why close roads for VIPs if country safe

The opposition questioned in Parliament today the need to close roads for VIP movements if the country is safe. Over 40 bank accounts linked to Easter Sunday bombers frozen

Over 40 bank accounts linked to the Easter Sunday bombers have been frozen, the Police said today. Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that Rs 134 million in 41 bank accounts have been frozen. The Police also said that another five suspects linked to the bombers have been arrested. The five suspects were arrested by the Horowpathana Police.
