Located at the lobby level, the restaurant, as is indicated by its name holds the charm and warmth of a dining room at home, but with a vast selection of food from all around the world. On Sundays, keeping to the tradition of brunch, diners can expect over 200 dishes to taste. Priced at just Rs.3,100 nett for brunch with unlimited mocktails and Rs.3,350 nett for brunch with unlimited brew, this is an offer that is well worth the money!
Alongside salads and appetizers, one can find cuisine from the Middle East, Japan, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Burma, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, India and of course, Sri Lanka.
Start the mealby choosing from a refreshing range of drinks which includes strawberry smoothie, mixed fruit punch, king coconut and ice coffee, before tucking in to the appetizers and salads.
Popular favourites such as crab and avocado cocktail, Croatian seafood salad, potato chive salad, Vietnamese chicken salad are part of the appetizers and salad selection. Middle Eastern mezze, selection of international dressings and condiments, separate counters for gravlax, pate, cheese and crudités are also part of the selection.
A seafood counter with freshly shucked oysters, steamed cigali lobsters, jumbo prawns, steamed crab, mussels, octopus, ceviche of salmon and Norwegian rollmops, along with smoked duck galantine, chicken and pistachio roulade, Mexican smoked chicken, Italian salami, etc are part of the offering as well.
Speciality dishes from Japan such as sashimi, maki and nigari are other additions at the brunch at The Dining Room while five spice roast pork belly, coconut crispy lemon fish, Thai soup and noodles are part of the Thai fare that offer patrons a chance to enjoy some of Asia’s best loved cuisine. Char sue pork belly from Hong Kong, pork bun, prawn toast and dim sum from China, specialised chilli crab roll and prawn and chilli spring roll from Vietnam, Burmese grilled chicken with coconut chilli noodles from Burma, bulgogi from Korea, east coast chilli crab from Singapore, chaat, murgh biriyani, mutton vindaloo, chicken tikka from India will also be laid out to enjoy.
For those who prefer Sri Lankan fare, tempered suduru samba with fish head curry, pork black curry, gal Maalu red curry, dandilla tempered, kohila ala ambula, tibbatumallun and keselmuwa cutlets can be among their choice of fare for the afternoon.
And the list does not end there! While these are but a few under each category of food, there will also be a hot buffet and a mains selection. Making an appearance there will be sea bisque flamed with Armagnac, leek and artichoke veloute, pawkies and steamed beef pie, braised lamb with lentil, garden fresh vegetables, feta stuffed leg of chicken and pumpkin and spinach crepe risotto among others.
