Navy takes into custody 27 sacks of Beedi leaves

The Navy took into custody 27 sacks of Beedi leaves during a routine patrol carried out in the seas off the Talaimannar lighthouse last night. The Navy said that two suspects were arrested with the Beedi leaves. The Navy media unit said that 912.46 kg of Beedi leaves were recovered by the Navy. It is believed the Beedi leaves were to smuggled from India.

SLPP and SLFP agree on several issues, more talks in April

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have agreed on several issues during talks held today. SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera said that another round of talks will take place on April 10th. Today was the second round of formal talks held between the SLPP and SLFP to form an alliance.
