Rift in COPE as chairman walks out on CB bond issue

sunil handuettiA rift has emerged in the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) after its chairman Sunil Handunneththi walked out of a meeting today.

Handunneththi walked out of the meeting after accusing the United National Party (UNP) members in the committee of attempting to intimidate the report on the Central Bank (CB) bond scam.

The COPE report on the bond scam was not backed by UNP members in the committee. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The Department of the Auditor General is an independent body reporting to a select committee of Parliament. UNP members of that committee conducting themselves in a shameless, immoral manner is not acceptable.

The AG has issued his report post his inquiry and investigation into the scam. UNP members cannot force the AG to now change his report because they have an agenda. They may be acting so under instructions by their party chief who appears to have put his loyalty to a friend first more than his loyalty to the voters who sent him to the office he now holds after being in the wilderness for over two decades, trusting that good governance would be implemented without favor in a fair and equitable manner.

Well, we seem to have the same pack of thieves and hooligans in different packaging.

MS and his son are no different to the regime we replaced them with, if not worse!

Woe to the SL voter – gets duped again!
