Ex-army officer found dead with letter saying he killed Lasantha

lasantha_wickrematungeA former army intelligence officer has been found dead in Kegalle with a letter saying he killed journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga.

The former intelligence officer was found hanging by the neck in his house.

Identified as Edirisinghe Jayamane, the former intelligence officer has also appealed to the authorities in his letter, to release the army intelligence officer now in remand custody.

Jayamantha claims in the letter it was he who killed Wickrematunga and not army intelligence officer P. Udalagama, who is in remand custody.

Lasantha Wickrematunge, the Chief Editor of the popular English weekly The Sunday Leader, was assassinated on 8 January 2009 by four assailants who stopped him on his way to his office on Attidiya-Mt. Lavinia road. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Then Head of Army Intelligence must clarify. Alternative keep silence as done to the death of Rohana Wijeweera. I cannot still believe how Soldiers have the courage to kill unarmed citizens. A true soldier is a gentleman and will never kill an unarmed person.

  2. He failed to say who gave the order?
Sounds a bit like beating up supporting editor and his wife as red herring after killing Lasantha?
