Weeratunga accuses Government of misusing state authority

Sri Lanka?s former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga today accused the Government of misusing state authority when dealing with matters related to him.

Weeratunga, who is being investigated over illegal deals of the former Government, said that a container of his which was confiscated by the authorities was sold last month through an auction.

He says the container was auctioned without his consent or without informing him.

Weeratunga said that he had made an appeal to President Maithripala Sirisena to release some of his legal documents which were in the container but that request was disregarded.

Udayanga Weeratunga says he continues to live in Ukraine and is supporting the future political plans of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. (Colombo Gazette)

First Sri Lankan with virus detected in Sri Lanka

The first Sri Lankan patient to contract the coronavirus in Sri Lanka has been detected. Specialist doctor Ananda Wijewickrama from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) said the patient was receiving treatment at the IDH Hospital.
