President Maithripala Sirisena today warned that he will be compelled to take action against politicising the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID), Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The President said he had conveyed this message to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the cabinet at a meeting yesterday.
President Maithripala Sirisena said this while speaking at an event at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute this morning.
“I clearly told them if the FCID, CID, CIABOC work according to a political agenda I will need to take some decisions,” he said.
The President also said that he will take measures to ensure the dignity of the army is protected at every cost.
He also said he was not made President to make telephone calls to the court and direct them on any judgement. (Colombo Gazette)
