The attack on the Clique night club in Colombo early Saturday morning reportedly involved supporters of a son of a VVIP.
The attack took place after the son of the VVIP had left the club following an argument with the security officers at the club.
It was later reported that the son of the VVIP was the son of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The group who attacked the club used poles, including cricket wickets and caused extensive damage to the property.
A security officer at the club sustained serious injuries in the incident and was admitted to hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
