Switzerland notes importance of reforms process in Lanka

Speaker of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, Christa Markwalder today noted the importance of Constitutional reforms in Sri Lanka.

Markwalder said she had been briefed on the Constitutional reforms process during her meetings with the Government.

She told reporters in Kandy that the consultation process to draft a new Constitution in Sri Lanka will help gather the views of all parties, including civil society.

“I wish Sri Lanka a very successful Constitutional drafting process,” she added.

She also noted that Sri Lanka and Switzerland have a good relationship especially since there is a large Sri Lankan community in Switzerland.

Markwalder also said that Switzerland has a good economic relationship with Sri Lanka yet there is room for improvement. (Colombo Gazette)
