Government wants consensus on Constitutional Assembly

The Government says it wants consensus on the proposed Constitutional Assembly and it is for this reason that it is allowing the proposal to be debated in Parliament. Mangala, Power discuss expanding Lanka’s role in peacekeeping

Prisoners escape in Kegalle after assaulting prison guards

A group of?prisoners escaped after assaulting the prison guards in Kegalle today, the prisons department said. A prisons spokesman said that five?prisoners had escaped when they were taken to the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court. One inmate was later arrested.
