Special commodity levy on sugar increased by Rs 1.75/kg

The Special Commodity Levy (SCL) of cents 0.25/kg imposed on imported sugar has been increased by Rs 1.75/kg from midnight Thursday (15). JVP claims new VAT a promise given to the IMF

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) claims the new Value Added Tax (VAT) is part of a promise given to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the Government.
