Duminda Silva files appeal against his death sentence

Duminda Silva_CIFormer Parliamentarian Duminda Silva has filed an appeal against his death sentence after he was convicted in the Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra murder case.

Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, a former Presidential advisor, and his bodyguards were murdered in October 2011 ahead of elections held at the time.

Duminda Silva was also injured in the incident and he sought treatment overseas but he was accused of being involved in the killing.

The convicts in the case will serve life in prison as the death sentence is not implemented in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. One piece of filth shooting another piece of filth who could call from presidents office and get council tax payers names changed at council offices?

  2. Making appeal is the right of the accused. The divided judgement is the cause of discussions specially amongst academics and students on Jurisprudence. There is no definitive description to the Question What is Law ? Different scholars have various interpretations during different centuries and scholarly arguments are continuing. In mathematics 2+ 2 is always 4. In law 2 + 2 is different thing to different people. That is why Law is unique , complicated and interesting.
