Parliament approves pay hike for Bribery DG

dilrukshi-dias-wickramasinghe-director-general-for-prevention-of-bribery-and-corruptionParliament today approved a salary increase for the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe.

Parliament was told that the Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to pay with effect from 12.02.2015 the new salary and allowances to Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe, President’s Counsel and former Additional Solicitor- General of the Attorney-General’s Department, on her appointment with effect from 12.02.2015 on State’s initiative, as Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, which post is vulnerable and exposed to risks.

Parliament approval was earlier sough to pay her a monthly salary and all allowances entitled to the post of Additional Solicitor-General (other than telephone allowance, fuel allowance and house-rent allowance) and a Ministry Secretaries’ allowance, telephone allowance and fuel allowance entitled to the post of Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption.

Accordingly, Parliament resolved to pay under votes of the Consolidated Fund, the monthly salary and allowances to Wickramasinghe. (Colombo Gazette)
