Brother and sister of Hambantota youth arrested

The brother and sister of the youth in Hambantota who escaped while in police custody have been arrested.

According to the police, the brother and sister of the youth had protected him after he escaped from police custody.

The youth had been arrested for stealing paddy but he was later reported missing and some police officers attached to the Hambantota police station were transferred over the incident.

Following investigations the youth was found hiding in Dickwella and he was arrested. (Colombo Gazette)

Nadeemal Perera deported from Dubai and detained in Colombo

Nadeemal Perera, son of singer Amal Perera and another person who were in remand in Dubai have been deported and detained in Colombo by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). The other suspect deported is said to be a prison officer. The Police said that Nadeemal Perera and the other person were questioned by the CID and Police Narcotics Bureau. Police arrest two notorious drug traffickers including ?Aruni Baba?

The Police have arrested two notorious drug traffickers including ?Aruni Baba? the wife of underworld figure Kudu Roshan. According to the Police Aruni Baba was arrested with narcotics by the Special Task Force (STF) in Mattakkuliya. The Police said that Salinda Dharmasiri Ranasinghe alias ‘Thel Chooti’ was also arrested following information revealed by Aruni Baba.
