Rajitha says Mahinda was urged to follow Mandela’s policy

MRHealth Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne says former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was urged to follow the policies of the great South African leader, the late Nelson Mandela after the war.

Senaratne said that had Rajapaksa followed¬†Mandela’s policies he could have ruled the country for¬†20 years.

The Minister said that when he was in the Government led by Rajapaksa he had urged the President to do what Mandela did after the military defeated the LTTE and ended 30 years of war.

However Senaratne noted that Rajapaksa decided to follow a different path and this led to his defeat at the last Presidential election. (Colombo Gazette)

  2. Minister Rajitha Seneratne is trying to bluff the Sri Lankan voters by these “press statements/talking to the press by the pres/media dramas. Rajitha has also been talking of “giving the application form for Nobel Peace Prize to Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Sunday Times carried some startling revelations of Rajitha’s hand in allocating Land Commission Lands to his friends and kith and kin during his time as Project Minister – Lands and the Sunday Leader carried startling news about Rajitha’s the former fisheries minister had been engaged in bribery and corruption during his tenure at the fisheries ministry depriving the country of millions of rupees in tax revenue and depriving the fishing community of many opportunities. National Freedom Front Politburo Member and UPFA MP Niroshan Premaratne filed a complainst against Minister Rajitha Senaratne with the Anti-corruption Committee yesterday.
The complaint claims that Senaratne is responsible for the misuse of Rs 177 million when he was the Minister of Fisheries. Rahitha Seneratne knows where these revalations are going to lead, so Rajitha is making friendly overtures to Mahinda Rajapaksa to save himself from probes once Mahinda/Joint Opposition comes back to power. Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Joint Opposition, including Gothabaya Rajapaksa and Basil Rajapaksa should be alert about these moves by the most dishonest and corrupt politician Sri Lanka has seen since independence.

  3. Mandela is the worst thing to happen to south africa. just compare and contrast the statistics, south africa pre and post mandela. it went from being a superpower with nuclear power to 3rd world shithole. While his people, that he claimed he fought for, are still living in poverty, him and his family have been living like a royal family. He was also a terrorist. The media and the left has whitewashed him into some great african hope. It was the white man who built and SA from nothing. Some of the black folks in africa admit they were better off with apartheid.
