Employees take chairman hostage over several demands

lal-samarasingheEmployees of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation today took their Chairman hostage over several demands.

The office room of the Chairman, Lal Samarasinghe was locked by the employees and he was now allowed to leave the premises.

The key demand of the employees of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation has been a change of management.

The employees had issued a deadline by when the management should change but since the deadline was not met they took the chairman hostage in his office.

The Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation operates under the Ministry of Health. Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne ordered the Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation to be closed till the situation was resolved. (Colombo Gazette)
