Deadly wasp attack in Norwood

One person was killed and four others were injured following a wasp attack in Norwood today. The police said that the wasps attacked five people including 3 women working at an estate in the area. All those who were injured in the attack were rushed to hospital, the police said. However one man had succumbed to his injuries on admission to hospital. The victim was was said to be a 65 year old man. The police are investigating the incident. (Colombo Gazette)

Passengers heading to SL stopped

Fifty passengers were yesterday stopped at Chennai from boarding a Jet Airways flight to Colombo after customs officials found them carrying commercial goods, but travelling on a tourist visa, the Deccan Chronicle reported. This is the first instance in recent times that the customs department has stopped passengers from travelling abroad en masse.
